Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 25, 2026
PitCrewAI is designed around a simple principle: your vehicle data is yours. We do not collect, sell, share, or
monetize any driving data from you or your vehicle. This policy explains what information stays on your device,
what minimal information is processed to run your subscription, and what we never touch.
1. What PitCrewAI stores on your device
PitCrewAI stores the following information locally, on your iPhone, inside the app's private sandbox:
- Vehicle information you enter (year, make, model, VIN, nickname)
- Maintenance records you log
- Telemetry history from your OBD-II dongle (retained for 1 day, 2 days, or 1 week — your choice, default 2 days)
- Settings and preferences
- Emergency contact information you enter (used only by the crash-detection feature, and only to send a
notification you explicitly authorize)
This data does not leave your device.
2. Subscription information
PitCrewAI is a subscription app. Your subscription is managed entirely by Apple — we do not collect, store, or
have direct access to your payment information.
Apple shares the following with PitCrewAI so the app can verify your subscription is active:
- An anonymous subscription status signal (active / expired / in trial)
- The product identifier of the subscription you purchased (Annual or Monthly)
We do not receive your name, email address, billing address, or payment method from Apple. We do not know who you
are personally — only that an anonymous Apple receipt confirms your subscription is current.
Refer to https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ for details on how Apple handles subscription payment information.
3. iCloud and the "Verified Dongles" community feature
PitCrewAI reads a small public database of verified OBD-II dongle models hosted on Apple's CloudKit service. This
is a one-way, read-only fetch — no data about you or your vehicle is sent to CloudKit in V1.
If you later choose to submit a compatibility report about your own dongle, the report contains only: dongle
model name, service UUID, and a yes/no of whether it worked. No personal data, no vehicle data, no location.
4. What we do not do
- We do not use third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.)
- We do not use advertising SDKs
- We do not track you across apps or websites (no App Tracking Transparency prompt)
- We do not sell or share driving data with anyone
- We do not maintain servers that hold your vehicle or usage data
5. Permissions PitCrewAI requests
PitCrewAI asks for permission to use the following iOS services. All data these permissions expose stays on your
device.
- Location — to track mileage automatically during trips.
- Motion — to detect when you're driving vs. walking, and (optionally) to detect potential collisions.
- Bluetooth — to connect to your OBD-II dongle.
- Camera — to scan your vehicle's VIN (only when you tap "Scan VIN").
- Notifications — to alert you to maintenance due, low tire pressure, crash detection, and similar events.
You can revoke any of these at any time in iOS Settings.
6. Children's privacy
PitCrewAI is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. The
subscription is managed by Apple and requires an Apple ID, which has its own age policies.
7. Your rights
You can delete the app at any time, which removes all locally-stored data. To cancel your subscription, go to
Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
For questions about your data, email support@appprovedsoftware.com.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a future version, we'll post the updated policy here and update the effective date
above. For material changes that affect how your data is handled, we'll surface an in-app notice.
